Verizon makes Xoom data plan pricing official; announces subsidized price of $600

Verizon has finally sent out a press release confirming what was already known: that the world's first shipping Honeycomb (Android 3.0) tablet, the Motorola Xoom will arrive in retail on Feb. 24. They confirmed the $799.99 (unsubsidized) price, but also added a lower cost option: $599.99 subsidized, with a two-year contract.

The first version of the Xoom will be 3G only, but it will be upgradeable in Q2 to 4G. Also in that quarter, the 4G version of the Xoom will arrive. It's unclear how that upgrade will translate, whether it will be software-only (requiring, naturally, an LTE SIM) or something that requires a dongle of some sort.

The bad news comes via the pricing for data. Wireless 3G data service for the Motorola XOOM will begin at $20 monthly access for 1GB. Verizon did not indicate what a 4G data plans would cost, nor did it give pricing for "upgraded" data tiers.

The Motorola XOOM has a 10.1-inch display, a dual-core 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel rear camera with HD video capture support and a front-facing 2-megapixel camera for video chat.  You can read the full press release below.
