There is a lot of speculation about a wi-fi only Motorola Xoom, which has been promised by Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha. Originally, he said it would cost $599, which would be right in line with the iPad 2 when compared with the 32GB wi-fi only model. Still, everyone wants a lower price for the Xoom, and we might see it at Sam's Club.
>According to Droid-Life, Sam's Club plans to sell the Motorola Xoom at $539. That would place its price $60 less than the comparable iPad 2, but at the same time the Xoom matches the iPad 2 in virtually every hardware specification, and outdoes it in many, as well (such as screen resolution, screen size, and resolution of both front- and rear-facing cameras).
Still no official release date, but the report notes that a wi-fi only version of the Xoom is headed for the European market in the first week in April, and since a wi-fi version doesn't require carrier testing or approval, it seems likely that a U.S. launch could be around then as well.
