If you recently (very recently) purchased an iPad, only to find that with the announcement of the iPad 2 you paid $100 more than you might have if you had waited just a little while, you are in luck.
While the iPad 2 will be available for order on March 11, Apple is still selling the first generation models at a $100 discount across the board (the iPad 2 will have the same price as the original pricing for the iPad 1, with the same storage and feature tiers).
Apple sales personnel have told ElectricPig that if you are within the two week return window, you can head right back to the Apple Store (or, we presume, call Apple Support if the order was online) and get that $100 difference refunded. You will, of course, need your receipt.
It's a nice gesture on the part of Apple. Commenters at many sites have been saying they knew the announcement was coming, but they didn't expect the release to be so soon, afterwards, and that's why they still purchased the iPad 1. At the same time, we've been reporting for a while that the iPad 2 was likely to see a quick release.
